How the AutoPPC safeguards work

Four catches before the next change

A converting term spared, your own edit remembered, a change given time, and a pause respected. The checks behind your AutoPPC review.

A useful PPC review catches reasons to leave something alone. AutoPPC checks the history behind a search term, the changes already made, and the decisions you have reserved for yourself. These fictional examples show what that means in an ordinary account.

A term looks wasteful. Its family is selling.

“Lined notebooks” has clicks and no orders in one campaign. It looks like something to block. But “lined notebook” has brought in orders elsewhere in the same marketplace.

Before proposing an ordinary zero-order search-term negative, AutoPPC checks related wording across the reports it has retained for that marketplace. A converting family stops that negative from being proposed. Looking at one spelling or one campaign would miss the sale the family check is there to protect.

What it catches: a cut that could block traffic already earning orders. This check uses retained reports; it cannot recover missing history. US and Canadian results are checked separately.

You changed a bid at midnight.

You lower a bid in Amazon after the day's work is done. You do not open AutoPPC or leave a note.

On the next successful pull, AutoPPC compares the supported account settings with its previous snapshot. It records the detected edit as yours in the account history, alongside changes made through AutoPPC. Later checks take that edit into account when deciding whether there is enough fresh evidence for another recommendation.

What it catches: a review working from the old bid after you have already changed it. The record reflects what the pull can observe; it does not watch every action in Amazon as it happens.

Yesterday's change needs time.

You approve a bid change and upload it. The next morning, sales look worse. That alone is too early to call the change a failure: orders can be reported after the clicks that led to them.

AutoPPC waits for the applicable settling period and enough evidence from after the change before judging it. A recent edit can hold another recommendation while that evidence builds. This keeps results from before and after a change from being treated as one clean test.

Once a verified decision has settled, AutoPPC checks it against fresh evidence. If the evidence no longer supports it, the decision is flagged for your review with its available undo file.

What it catches: changing direction before the first change has had a fair reading. You decide what happens after the follow-up check.

You paused the ad. It stays paused.

You pause an ad because you want that product off sale. Later, stock returns or its older sales figures look promising.

AutoPPC does not propose turning an ad back on when its latest pause belongs to you. A proposed restart needs a record showing that AutoPPC made the pause. If that record is missing or uncertain, the ad stays paused.

What it catches: software treating a deliberate business decision as something to repair. A pause you made remains yours to lift.

Advertising changes still go through your approval and manual upload in Amazon. A later pull checks what landed. Matching undo files can restore supported settings; they cannot recover money already spent. Check the current account before using an older file, especially if you have made another edit since.
